Empowering Youth Advocacy in the Water Sector – An Intergenerational Dialogue

By: Rachana Mattur

The event titled “Empowering Youth Advocacy in the Water Sector – An Intergenerational Dialogue” took place under the Netherlands Pavilion at the World Water Forum’s “Future is Now” event. Hosted by Wavemakers United, IHE Delft, and the Water Youth Network, we brought together over 30 participants who worked in 4 teams on developing advocacy strategies for water problems.

Expert speakers such as Sandra van Soelen from Simavi and Ram Paul from Athena Informatics, also a member of Water youth network enriched the workshop with their insights on sustainable water management and effective advocacy strategies.

Our participation from the Water Youth Network was crucial as it allowed us, young leaders, to lead discussions on global water solutions. By organizing this event, we provided a platform for other young people to learn and practically work on advocacy strategies for water issues. This aligns with the Network’s commitment to empowering the next generation of water professionals, preparing us to effectively tackle global water challenges.

The workshop also provided a valuable opportunity to network and collaborate with youth from diverse backgrounds. This collaboration helped build a community focused on making positive changes in global water management.
