Young Water Professionals (YWP) from IWA together with Water Youth Network are co-organizing a session titled ‘An entrepreneur approach to ensure water security in peri-urban zones.” This discussion panel is being held as part of the IWA Water, Energy and Climate Conference 2014, held in Mexico City on May 21st – 24th.
Summary of the session:
Water security is becoming one of the biggest problems in urban zones around the globe, and the increasing urbanization and population growth are exacerbating it. This problem negatively impacts the environment and human settlements with lower economic capacity, specially ones that in peri-urban zones. A few projects led by young water professionals with innovative ideas and a passion to improve our world have been selected to discuss in this session. These projects, which address water security in peri-urban zones, have the potential to be improved and replicated in other parts of the world. The main objective of the session is to analyze and discuss these initiatives with their creators, senior water professionals and the audience in order to achieve better and more powerful tools to improve water security around the world.
